A shamble starts off just like a scramble: the members of each team tee off, and the best drive is selected. In a scramble, this process continues until the ball is holed, producing one team score. However, in a shamble, after the best drive is selected, all players play from that spot but then continue playing their own ball, stroke-play style, until each has holed out, producing two individual scores.

On the scorecard, each player's gross score is recorded and then a best-ball net score recorded for the team based on handicap strokes awarded for each player. At the end of play, you should have a gross score for each player, and a best-ball net score for the team. Handicaps will be reduced to 60% of the course handicap for each player. Handicap strokes should be subtracted on each hole and a 'net score' recorded for the team on each hole.
